Chiriqui province is Panama’s third largest with an agro-industry sector that is the hallmark of the province’s economy. The sector accounts for more than 80 percent of Panama’s agricultural imports and exports while also serving as an important agricultural producer for Panama’s domestic markets, yet does not have good transport connectivity, either by highway or by ports. In seeking to develop a new port to serve the province’s international trade, Monument’s team of experts, led by Dr. Kent, was retained to review cargo demand forecasts, evaluate capital and operating expenditures, benchmark cargo and vessel handling tariffs and charges, conduct valuation of the project based on three development scenarios MEG prepared, and develop a “go-to-market” financial model and a pitch deck.
